Foundation of the Hellenic World
The Foundation of the Hellenic World (FHW) is a non-profit, privately funded cultural institution, established by a legislative act of the Greek Parliament in 1993. Its mission is the preservation and dissemination of Hellenic history and culture in its diachronic and geographical evolution, by utilizing contemporary technological means.
FHW experience in projects that link cultural and historical information with cutting edge technology, as well as the development of innovative tools in the field, has been acknowledged internationally. This has allowed FHW to become an important and required partner in a series of projects in the context of European and national research, culture and education programs, aiming at the prominent presentation and promotion of culture and at the development of museum and education tools using the most advanced technological means available. FHW is currently involved, or has been involved in the past, in numerous IST and other EC projects, not just as content provider and end user and also carrying out major parts of the work. Such examples include CREATE, e-MUSE, MEDINA, Indigo, Safeline II, SearchWeb, NETWATCH Hotline, Safeline, AVATON, LeGa, EPOCH, INTUITION, E-CULTURE NET, ARTNOUVEAU, TOURBOT, OPENISE, M-PIRO and others.
The abovementioned productions of FHW are designed and implemented almost exclusively by FHW staff comprising archeologists, historians, editors, translators, architects, museologists, computer engineers, computer scientists, graphics artists, audiovisual producers and 3D content creators, most of which are holders of graduate degrees or PhDs. As a result, the know-how from the participation in such projects is accumulated in FHW and is exploited in every new research and/or development project, as the one described herein.
FHW administrative structure contains a standalone section dedicated to project management which carries an extensive experience in the set up, management and coordination of large scale projects comprising multiple partners, as well as a finance department which is also has extensive experience with national and European funded and co-funded projects. |
